Skylake
An alpine lake that holds no water. What lies under the surface is not water but a refractive discontinuity, and behind it a series of worlds ordered by how far their rules sit from ours.
No one has crossed. We watch from the shore through polarising filters, and twice a year the lake overturns and gives us something to hold. These are the records.
Entries
The lake itself. Not a finding — the instrument the findings are measured against.
LAKE-001 Single-Polarised SpectaclesIdentical to an observer's own pair in every respect but one, and that one is fading.
LAKE-002 Duty Log, PartialEvery word legible, every figure ordinary, and three of the columns cannot be said in English.
Bar colour gives stratum: Shallows, Thermocline, Deep Water, Unsounded — lighter is shallower.
Bar opacity gives normalization. As an object settles into local rules its bar fades toward the page.
